You want to make an impact in democracy. And you can. We need you.

Donor Organizer (n): someone who fundraises for movement causes from their communities

  • Without donor organizers, we wouldn’t have upheld 6 statewide constitutional rights to reproductive freedom: In 2022, donor organizers raised $60 million+ from friends and family for progressive causes in critical states with ballot initiatives.

  • There is still plenty of room to grow our impact: Only 1.5% of all Americans gave $200 or more to political causes in the 2020 cycle, and just 0.5% did in 2022.

  • The stakes today are even higher than in 2022: Reproductive freedom, gun safety, our environment, and voting rights are all in jeopardy.

  • What if you could play a key role in rewriting this narrative? Donor organizers are everyday people just like you. Most had never raised a penny before 2018.

Sources and calculations on the stakes at hand can be found here.

Turn anger into action.

People who previously didn’t think of themselves as “fundraisers” are making a serious impact.

Donor organizer Monique Gabriela Curnen smiles at the camera

As a kid, I was super shy and used to drag my feet when it came time for Girl Scout Cookie selling season. But years later, I knew I had to do more than just donate.

So when my cousin, David Henry, asked me to volunteer for a new organization dedicated to electing principled leaders to the US Senate, I jumped at the opportunity. It’s caring deeply about these issues and how we treat each other as fellow citizens that drove me to put myself out there and become a volunteer at Senate Circle. Standing up for quality public education and voting rights are core issues that inspire me to engage with fellow voters, educate them on the changing electoral landscape, and donate to causes with a stated platform to serve the public, not divide us.”

Where is the Highest Impact?

Sources: Analyst Institute Turnout Meta-Analysis 3.0, various field organizers. Analysis details can be found here.

Donor organizing is the highest impact volunteer opportunity for anyone who can raise $200 in an hour. This could be you!

In one hour, you can email five friends asking them to each contribute $40 to a cause you care about, or you could spend 10 hours planning a house party that raises $2,000.

Here’s why we love donor organizing:

For many of us, donor organizing is the highest impact, most rewarding volunteer activity we can do.

You can be a donor organizer.

Fundraising can sound scary at first but it’s much more fun than you think.

You don’t have to be rich, highly connected, extroverted, or “expert.”

All you need is to care, and be ready to take action.

Donor organizing can fit your schedule and preferences.

You can schedule a coffee chat or happy hour with one friend. Send emails to a list of people. Host a gathering. It all moves resources!

You won’t be doing this alone.

Donor Organizer Hub is here to support you with comprehensive training, tried-and-true best practices, and a network of experienced donor organizers happy to help.

The status quo of politics doesn’t have to be our reality.

You can channel your anxiety and frustration into serious impact.
